Nata nel 1943 a New York Christine Berl ha ottenuto un Bachelor degree in pianoforte presso il Mannes College e un Master degree in composizione presso il Queen’s College. Ha anche studiato analisi schenkeriana con Ernst Oster e Carl Schachter.
Peter Serkin ha eseguito in prima assoluta il suo pezzo “The Lord of the Dance”, da lui commissionato, nel 1989 e lo ha suonato ancora nel 1990 nella serie “Distinguished Artists Series” del 92nd Street Y.
Il pianista Carlo Levi MInzi ha registrato “Elegy” e “The Lord of the Dance” per l’etichetta Rusty Records e ha eseguito la sua opera omnia per pianoforte alla Merkin Hall.
“Dark Summer”, scritto per Frederica von Stade e commissionato dal KIncoln Cdenter Chamber Music Society nel 1989 èstato da lei eseguito col pianist Richard Goode. “Ab la Dolchor” (testo di henry Weinfield) per mezzosoprano, clarinetto viola e pianoforte stato eseguito in prima assoluta nel 1990 al treet Y 92nd Y in un concerto dedicato a sue musiche.
Christine Berl ha anche tenuto masterclasses anche in Italia presso il Conservatorio di Alessandria e l’Università di Cremona

Christine Berl was born in New York City, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in piano from Mannes College of Music in 1964. She continued her education at Queen’s College, graduating with a Master of Arts degree in composition in 1970.[2][3] She also studied Schenkerian studies with Ernst Oster and Carl Schachter.
Peter Serkin premiered her piece, “Lord of the Dance,” in 1989 and played it again in 1990 at the 92nd Street Y Distinguished Artists Series (the piece was commissioned by him in 1989).[5]
The pianist Carlo Levi Minzi has recorded two of Berl’s works, “Elegy” and “Lord of the Dance,” on Rusty Records. “Dark Summer” was written for Frederica von Stade and commissioned by the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society in 1989. The pianist was Richard Goode. “Ab la Dolchor” (text by Henry Weinfield) for mezzo, clarinet, piano, viola, cello was premiered by Richard Stoltzman in 1990 at the 92nd Street Y concert entitled “The Music of Christine Berl.”
